More About Receiving a Tutor

Literacy Volunteers of the Pollard Memorial Library provides free, confidential, and flexibly scheduled tutoring in either basic literacy or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). Tutor and student pairs meet at mutually agreeable times and locations in the Greater Lowell area. A potential student must be over the age of 16, not enrolled in school, and willing to commit to regular tutoring.  Please note that there is a waiting list for services.

The Pollard Memorial Library has a collection of materials designed for our basic literacy and ESOL students. It is called the New Reader collection and is located on the first floor of the library. Students on our waiting list are welcome to borrow materials from this collection while they wait for a tutor. For more information about our New Reader collection, please visit our collection overview
